The Double: Charming Disaster album + 2nd edition oracle deck

Created by Charming Disaster

If you missed the Kickstarter campaign for our new album and the 2nd edition of the Charming Disaster Oracle Deck, it's not too late to pre-order the album and the deck here, along with some other merch items and albums from our back catalog.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

An animated music video for "Time Machine," and a new Kickstarter campaign from its creators!
13 days ago – Thu, Mar 19, 2026 at 06:43:08 PM

Dear Backers: Have you seen the incredible animated music video for "Time Machine," one of the tracks on The Double, the album you helped us bring to life? It's been winning film festival awards left and right, and we couldn't be prouder.

If you are a fan of this video and would like to see more work like it, good news! The talented duo of filmmakers who cooked it up, Witching Hour Animation, have launched their own Kickstarter campaign to support the creation of an original short film in their signature style: Heartbreak: A Tale of a Haunting Breakup. We just backed their campaign ourselves, and we encourage you to check it out HERE

Meanwhile, here's "Time Machine," along with a video that Witching Hour Animation created for Ellia's other project, Funkrust Brass Band: "Quartermain and Victoria."

Enjoy!
Ellia & Jeff

The records have shipped! Upcoming shows! And a special request
11 months ago – Thu, May 08, 2025 at 07:01:40 PM

DEAR ONES:

If you've received a package from us in the past few days, then you know the good news: we have shipped out the physical rewards for this campaign! The Double and the new edition of the oracle deck may already be in your hands (or your ears, as applicable), as you read this update. We are SO THRILLED to finally share with you what we've made.

In the end there were so many boxes in the second batch of packages that we had to rent a u-haul van to get them all to the post office (photo of this at the end of this update). The album downloads and other digital rewards will be coming shortly—keep an eye on your email inboxes.

Upcoming shows!

On May 15, we celebrate The Double's release in NYC with a special show at Caveat, an intimate cabaret theatre on the Lower East Side. IT WOULD MEAN THE WORLD to see you there! Tickets are here. If you're not in NYC, or have no corporeal form, livestream tickets are here.

From May 22-June 8, we've got a big tour planned that will take us through the Midwest U.S. and upstate New York. Please come see us if we're coming your way! Dates & tickets are here. Advance tickets are every band's love language, and we are no exception.

...And a special request!

All of you Kickstarter backers are receiving your copy of The Double early, but the rest of the world has to wait until May 16. Between now and then, will you help us boost the official launch day of the new album (and the oracle deck too) by sharing any of these links on your socials?

Thank you times a million for supporting this project and helping us make it happen!! If we see you at one of our upcoming shows, we'll thank you in the flesh.

XOXO
Ellia & Jeff

That time we drove 100+ packages to the post office in a rented u-haul and a series of minor misadventures ensued, including having to take them to a second post office, where we were instructed to carry them all to 3 different locations as a long line of people looked on with interest

First batch of packages is shipped! Update on the records! NYC album release show!
11 months ago – Thu, Apr 24, 2025 at 10:44:35 AM

Dear ones: you might want to keep an eye on your mailbox, because a couple of days ago we dropped off 177 of your packages at the post office.

177 packages is enough to fill a whole bin. They wheeled one out to the parking lot for us.
Please enjoy Ellia's post office outfit (beware the hateful orb)

The next round of packages to go out will be the international orders, and finally all of the orders that include The Double on vinyl — the records haven't arrived yet, but we just got an update from the pressing plant that they are finished earlier than expected (!) and will be shipped out to us early next week. We can't wait to see them.

In other news, if you're in NYC, we hope you'll join us for the big album release show at Caveat on May 15! Livestream tickets are also available for you disembodied souls.
More details: charmingdisaster.com/caveat

Stay tuned for other updates about our upcoming tour of the Midwest and upstate NY, the imminent release of another single from the album, and a music video that's going to knock your socks off. We're very grateful to you for helping make much of this happen.

XOXO
Ellia & Jeff

The first wave of shipping has begun! And a tour announcement!
12 months ago – Thu, Apr 17, 2025 at 08:22:35 AM

Darling Disasters:

Surprise! We're about to begin shipping out your rewards. Yesterday we packed up the first batch of packages, and it gave us BIG FEELS to see so many names we know on the shipping labels as we stuck them on the packages. Please know that each one of these boxes and envelopes comes with our gratitude and love along with the swag that's inside.

SHIPPING UPDATE:

We have about 350(!) packages to ship out, so we'll doing that in multiple waves to make the process more manageable. This first wave is CDs and oracle decks/expansion packs. Next up will be T-shirts and other stuff. Heads up if your order includes a vinyl record, you'll be in the final wave, since we won't receive the vinyl for a few more weeks (ETA from the pressing plant is around May 7).

The first 91 packages are ready to go to the post office!

TOUR DATES ANNOUNCEMENT:

In other news, we just announced our May/June tour dates, including the NYC album release show (which will also be livestreamed), followed by a string of Midwest and upstate NY shows. If we're coming your way, please come see us in the flesh! You'll find ticket links & more info at charmingdisaster.com/shows

Thanks again for making this project possible. Your support means the world to us, and we're so excited to share The Double and the new decks with you.

Love,
Ellia & Jeff

P.S. Can't remember what rewards you ordered? Want an extra copy of something? You can always go HERE to check your order (type in your email and click "get my survey") or order additional items (click "pre-order now").

The first single is out now, with a Dracula-inspired music video!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 24, 2025 at 06:30:09 AM

Beloved Backers:

BRACE YOURSELVES—the first single from the The Double has officially dropped! "Trick of the Light," inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula, is out now on all major platforms (click here to find it on your platform of choice). Add it to your vampire playlists, share it with your friends, bite it on the neck. This song wants eternal life.

If your Kickstarter campaign rewards included a digital single, you have already received a Bandcamp download code for this track in your email inbox! (If you didn't see it on Friday, the subject line started with "New digital content" and it was sent via Backerkit). Let us know if you need any help redeeming your code.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. We have also premiered an epic music video for "Trick of the Light" that pays homage to horror film classics. Who is the vampire and who is the victim? Don't you worry your pretty head about it.

"Trick of the Light" was directed by Zoloman Zelko and filmed with a crew of talented collaborators from the film program at Florida State University last summer in Brooklyn (including a scene shot at the historic Green-Wood Cemetery). We hope it mesmerizes you.

You can read more about the video on Grimrose Manor, where it premiered over the weekend.

More exciting updates are in the pipeline. There's no turning back now.

Love,
Ellia & Jeff
